The Marxist Front is a New Shetlandian neo-marxist party. It was not elected to the Senate in the 2011 Federal Elections. It does hold seats, however, in the state senates of Mount Errigal, North, Uplands, Central Nieves, Southern Territories and Neol. The Marxist Front is fronted by Edwina Biehl and Neil Cap.
Ideology[]
Neo-Marxism is a loose term for various twentieth-century approaches that amend or extend Marxism and Marxist theory, usually by incorporating elements from other intellectual traditions, such as: critical theory, psychoanalysis or Existentialism. The Marxist Front incorporates this ideology in a pacifist, radical left framework. It is a proponent of:
- A large government
- Income-dependent taxes
- Abolition of the army
- Separation of church and state
- Gay marriage
- Abortion
- No religious schooling
