Sherman is the state capital of Uplands, the biggest state of New Shetland in terms of surface. The town is the smallest state capital of the country, with just over 9,000 inhabitants. There are two roads leading to Sherman, one leading to Zinc Town, the second town of North, the other leading to Overstead, the third town of Uplands.
Sherman has a high school and a port. Most people are employed either in the fishing or the tourism industry.
